Airbnb - Challenges

Welcome to post two regarding our Airbnb experience in Hiroshima, Japan.  See post one, three here.  We ran into a few challenges with our Airbnb home. 

1.  The first presented itself immediately upon our arrival.  Our home was cold.  In keeping with our previous experiences (Japan x2 trips, China x1 trip) ... it is culturally preferred to only climate-control occupied rooms.  It is not-green and a waste of energy and our planets valuable resources to heat or cool an empty room.  Much less an empty house. Further, each room has its own individual air conditioning unit.  Again, not a shock.   <- disclaimer that we get it and are not complaining. 

HOWEVER.

Wifey made the first attempt at turning on the heaters and getting started warming up the necessary rooms (kitchen and bedroom).  She was unsuccessful.  Cold, tired, and increasingly stressed.  Once Hubby finished locking up the front door to keep us safe, he came to the rescue and took over "figure out the climate-control" duties.  Using image translate on the google translate app, he got them working.  Since wifey is typing this, i'll leave it at that since I honestly have no idea what the issue was or how he resolved it.  Hubby set both to 90 degrees (the top option) until things got heated up a bit. 

2.  Our last night we decided to do some laundry and start the next leg of our trip with all clean clothes.  YAY!  Planning for this allowed a bit less stress in packing enough clothes for 11 days. 

After much google translating (again), we believe the washer self-soaps.  Meaning you just hit "on" and then "start" and it does everything itself.  Being American, we are accustomed to adding our own laundry detergent to the wash basin.  In hindsight, we're pretty sure that we added drain cleaner to our first load.  We rewashed that load several times. 

3.  As discussed on our first post, navigating to our house was a bit of a challenge.  Like challenges #1 & 2, this is really a cultural issue.
