Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site
Go first thing in the morning. The majority of this site has no shade so you are walking about in the sun. Like all national parks etc .... talk to the Park Rangers. They know their stuff and will enrich your visit so much!

Waikoloa Petroglyph Field
Nestled among the hotels, condos, golf courses, and pools of Waikoloa Village is and ancient foot trial and the Waikoloa Petroglyph Field. We walked a section of this trial and viewed the Petroglyph field Monday morning as we visited Starbucks for a quick pick-me-up. If you're visiting Waikoloa Village and will not make it down to Volcanos National Park etc; I highly recommend this as a semi-authentic taste of the Big Island OFF the resort.

That said, our walk was hot and sunny and miserable. Get up early, stay up late, and siesta during the heat of the day if you're staying by the coast.

O'ahu - Arrival and Pearl Harbor
Since this is Hubby's first trip to Hawaii (the state), we made time and prioritization visiting O'ahu so we could go to Pearl Harbor. This was actually a bit more complicated than normal due to Neighbor Island travel restrictions. Similar to the COVID testing requirements to enter Hawaii yesterday from the mainland, one of our pre-travel swabs was for re-entry today!
We woke bright and early which was easy due to jet lag and caught a 6:30 flight over to Honolulu.
First Stop: Rental Car Pickup! While chatting up the Avis Preferred attendant, Wifey mentioned we were only on O'ahu for one day ... as a result, she asked if we'd like a Mustang convertable for the day .... "yes please!".
Second Stop: Pearl Harbor! - We pre purchased our tickets and audio tour to visit the memorial. The audio tour was interesting, however several stations were also within a museum that provided video/audio information as well as text presentations. The conflicting input was alot. All in all, I think doing the audio tour was a net positive. We learned alot about both the events leading up to the attack as well as the results of the attack on O'ahu.

Palatine Hill - Forum - Colosseum
To get to the starting point of our tour, we first took the metro to the Colosseo stop. Here's the view when you top the stairs and walk out of the station:
"Pizza" - 2.5 EU/100g
Margherita Pizza - 1.8EU per 100 gram
After we made our selections; the clerk literally used scissors to cut of as large of a piece of pizza as we wanted and then weighed it for pricing. Our chosen slices came out looking amazing:
Lasagna
We ended up joining another couple at their table since this was the only option for seating in the tiny little restaurant. They left a bit later, giving us a whole table to ourselves.
