Citizens Police Academy

This month we participated in and graduated from the Citizens Police Academy for our home town of Sherwood, AR.

The graduation celebration was complete with cake and punch!

One field trip during our time in the academy was to the Police training range.  We had the opportunity to shoot a variety of firearms.  Wifey suprised the SWAT trainers who were overseeing our activity.

Another day we took a field trip to the county jail ... we're nervous!

Jail food:

They did, however, let us leave at the end of the evening!!

The Circle of Life

In late November 2017, Wifey spied a facebook advert announcing presale tickets for the upcoming Lion King Musical to open November 28, 2017.  She had spent the month before "liking" and "following" Disney, Lion King, Lion King Musical, etc on various social media platforms in the hopes of scoring an invite to just such a presale.

As the countdown to the sale opening began she was glued to her web browser and scored two tickets for the show 5 months ahead!  On the calendar it went, and the long wait in anticipation began.

When the weekend of our show finally arrived, Hubby and Wifey dressed all fancy for our night out and braved the humidity and rain to head downtown.

Excitement builds seeing The Musical's trailer parked outside our venue.

We intended to spring for garage parking next door to the performance venue.  After sitting in rainy traffic watching folks walk towards the venue, we realized the garage was already full and we'd have to venture out for street parking.

Hubby handled parking like a pro, and we pulled out our umbrellas to begin the 4 or 5 block walk back to Robinson.

This was our first visit to Robinson after a recent historical renovation of the site.  We hear a rumor the team that handled the renovation was pretty great!

See the man in the right foreground in jeans,
yellow vest, and white hat?  That's Wifey's Dad!

We were far from the only umbrella users.

We settled in and half-enjoyed an amazing play.  By half-enjoyed, Wifey enjoyed every last second of the music and the costumes and the story and the experience.  And hubby ... tolerated it.  :)  Note: next musical ... girls night out!

One improvement we would recommend should The Lion King folks read this blog (likely I know) ... include captions or lyrics for your songs.  We struggled to understand some of the dialogue, which greatly makes things more challenging to enjoy. Wifey previously saw Hairspray in Shanghai.  The show was performed in vocal English, but Mandarin subtitles were displayed throughout above the stage ... so it IS doable.
