Atomic Dome and Hiroshima Castle

Last year we also visited Hiroshima and walked through Peace Park and the area surrounding the Atomic Dome.  As a result, we didn't spend a lot of time this year re-touring the same areas.  Here are a few pics we shot of the area this trip.  

 Leaving Peace park in search of Hiroshima Castle, we wandered into a convention center.  Which ended up being an exhibition for the gas company.  I'm still not sure I understand but it was interesting.  Exhibits included various kitchen appliances, types of app linked pans, bathroom appliances.

The Japanese love of mascots .... always fun.

We found a sign directing us towards Hiroshima Castle!  We're moving in the right direction.  

Just before we arrived at the actual castle, but on the castle grounds we saw a religious temple where people were bringing their kids dressed in the traditional Japanese style.  We never figured out what was happening.  It reminded Wifey somewhat of a Baby Dedication or Confirmation. 

This is *actually* a reconstruction of the Hiroshima Castle which was built in the 1500s and destroyed in World War II with the Atomic Bomb.

If you have kids, this area allows to dress up and take pictures in traditional clothing.   

We used the timer on the DSLR to get this shot ... not bad considering the lack of a tripod and balancing act!
