We went to Pololu Valley in search of Bamboo. Didn't find it. Alas it was a great hike. This black sand beach is where we were headed first. And then back up the opposite side of the valley.
At the trailhead many walking sticks were available for use on the more steep portions of the trail. Hikers are also encouraged to clean off their shoes so that invasive species etc are not passed from one environment to another.
Part of the way down the first side of the valley we found an overlook and took advantage of some strangers generosity for this rare picture of us both:
The path up the far side of the valley was varied. Some parts were through a pretty thick forest, while others were very open. Kee kept going back and forth with her LS shirt. On in the sun, off in the jungle.
When we reached the next ridge we took a break and a quick picture ... of course:
On our way back to our car, we stopped along the black rock and sand beach below for more pictures :)
