Worms

The Wormser Dom dates back to about the year 1200.  Worms is famous for a particular Diet wherein Martin Luthar refused to recant his beliefs espoused via the 95 theses and was thus declared a heretic.   In concluding his testimony at the Diet, Luthar is quoted as saying:

"Unless I am convinced by the testimony of the Scriptures or by clear reason (for I do not trust either in the pope or in councils alone, since it is well known that they have often erred and contradicted themselves), I am bound by the Scriptures I have quoted and my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not recant anything, since it is neither safe nor right to go against conscience. May God help me. Amen." 

Someone's are buried in the basement of the church.

We really enjoyed the Romanesque architecture of the Cathedral at Worms.

I love the purse hangers above these kneelers. 

 

Next door to the church is the Bishops Courtyard, where, more specifically the Diet would have taken place.

Landed safely!

We have landed safely after the shortest night ever! Dinner and breakfast were served what felt like 5 hours apart on our recent flight!  

Hubby won the admiration of a fellow traveler after basically pulling wifey onto an inter-terminal train she was in immediate danger of missing and thus separating the adventure-bound couple.

In between we tried to sleep, watched movies (guess which was whom) and ate some interesting airline food.

Baggage claim includes some clever engineering as noticed by hubby. Specifically, the two sensors on the right portion of the below photo served to notice any incoming baggage on the carousel. They will then stop the movement of the above luggage from entering on top of luggage already circling.

Biloxi Day 2 Part 3

After parasailing (and some relaxation time spent blogging) we met up with some of Hubby's coworkers ...

for dinner at Adventures Pub and Spirits.  

Sadly it allows smoking inside ... so we sat on the porch!

Hubby's "Jucy Lucy" burger - it was stuffed with cheese and a side of orzo pasta salad.  Wifey forgot to photograph her chicken quesadilla.  Shrug!  

We had a great time fellowshipping with Hubby's coworkers before they all went off to work for the night!  

Biloxi Ms Day 2 - Parasailing

On our second full day in Biloxi, we made reservations for a parasailing adventure!  The day before we had gone driving and found the marina where the boat departed from, so we knew right where to go when the time came!

The water was just a bit cool on our way down, but still, an awesome experience!  

Biloxi Day 2 Part 1

The morning of day two we visited our hotel pool!  

And took underwater selfies!

Biloxi MS Day 1 Part 2

After our beach adventure we ended up taking a nap before meeting up with a friend for Dinner!  Hi, S!  

We opted for the #1 ranked restaurant in town per tripadvisor, Half Oyster House for dinner.

It was amazing!  We had Royal Red Shrimp, 

Red Fish Orleans (Blackened redfish topped with Gulf shrimp sauteed in our original New Orleans style smoky Cajun sauce. Topped with jumbo lump crabmeat.) with Sweet Potato Creme brulee and Cheese Grits, 

and Fried Green Tomatos and Crab Cakes ... (Fried green tomatoes layered with blue crab cakes. Served over lemon aioli and topped with crab ravigotte.)!
